Frank Rochussen

Frank Hermann Rochussen (born March 18, 1873 in Sydenham near London, † 1955 in Erlangen ) was a chemist who dealt in industry with terpenes , essential oils and fragrances .

His parents were the engineer Theodoor Antonie Rochussen (1824–1880) and Adele (1847–1913), b. Long, evangelical confession. His father, born in Rotterdam under the name Theunisse, worked in London for the Heintzmann & Rochussen company and was his first marriage to Paulina Roest van Limburg (1823–1871).

After attending preschool in Solingen, his family moved to Bonn after the death of their father, where he attended elementary school and from 1882-1892 the Kgl. Attended high school. In order to devote himself to practical electrical engineering, he worked for six months at the Helios electricity plant in Cologne .

In autumn 1892 he began studying chemistry at the University of Bonn . Julius Bredt suggested the dissertation "About alpha-substituted homocamphoric acids" (bromohomocamphoric acid, homocamphanic acid, [alpha] - and [beta] -methylhomocamphoric acid) "and about methyl camphoric acid", which was published in 1897. In 1904 he regulated his citizenship.

He worked for the internationally known fragrance company Schimmel & Co. in Miltitz near Leipzig. A necrology was published in 1956 in the journal Miltitzer Nahrungsmittel (previously known as Schimmel -berichte ).
