Frank Selten (born February 24, 1939 in Breslau ) is a German language teacher and jazz musician ( saxophone , also clarinet ).

Life

Seldom spent his school days in Melsungen until he graduated from high school . He played in the school orchestra; as a banjo player with his own trio, he received first prize in the 1957 student competition in Bad Hersfeld. In Frankfurt am Main, he studied English, Romance studies and pedagogy in order to then work as a language teacher. From 1967 to 1997 he was head of the language center at Deutsche Lufthansa ; until 2005 he worked as a foreign language didactic consultant for Lufthansa Flight Training GmbH. He is a founding member and longstanding president of the Experience Exchange Ring Foreign Languages ​​in Business (ERFA) and the International Airlines' Language Conference (IALCO).

Rare, who is self-taught as a jazz musician , has played alto saxophone in the Blue Orleans Jazz Band since 1960 , after which he was a member and leader of the Sidewalk Jazz Band for a few years ; with her there was the first record and a 1st prize as an alto saxophonist at the Düsseldorf amateur jazz festival . Since 1961 he has been a member of the Barrelhouse Jazz Band , initially as an alto saxophonist; later more saxophones and the clarinet were added. It can be heard on all of the band's records and CDs. In 1968 he and the other members of the Barrelhouse Jazz Band received the honorary citizenship of New Orleans.
