Frank W. Baier

Frank W. Baier (* 1939 in Berlin ) is a German astrophysicist and author.

Life

After completing an apprenticeship as an electrician at VEB Elektrokohle Berlin-Lichtenberg and attending the workers and farmers faculty , Baier studied astronomy at Humboldt University. He then worked as a research associate and did his doctorate, temporarily also working at the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory in Armenia under Viktor Ambartsumian . At the end of the 1990s he completed his habilitation on the subject of the structures of galaxy clusters and their importance for the development of clusters and their central dominant galaxies .

In 2004 Baier retired. He lives in Potsdam and is politically committed to human rights and sustainable living conditions.

Publications

Baier wrote over 80 scientific publications with a focus on “groups of compact galaxies” and “essential structures in galaxy clusters”.
