Philipp Haas

Philipp Haas (born July 29, 1854 in Kastel ; † October 21, 1903 in Mainz ) was a Hessian editor and politician ( SPD ) and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Philipp Haas was the son of the whiter Joseph Haas and his wife Anna Maria, nee Wohlfahrt. Haas, who was a Catholic, married Katharina nee Scheuerle.

After graduating from elementary school, Haas worked as a printer and typesetter. From 1871 he was a member of the printer's union. From 1888 to 1891 he was cashier and from 1892 to 1898 head of the Gau Middle Rhine of the printing association based in Mainz. From 1898 until his death editor of the "Volkszeitung" and city councilor in Mainz.

From 1896 to 1903 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of the city of Mainz .
