Peter Mayer (politician, 1774)

Johann Peter Mayer (born April 13, 1774 in Mainz ; † November 3, 1848 there ) was a Hessian leather wholesaler and politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Peter Mayer was the son of the leather merchant Martin Mayer († 1795) and his wife Maria Magdalena, née Devora. Mayer, who was a Catholic, was a leather manufacturer and wholesaler in Mainz and married Maria Anna née Bonhyver (1776–1850).

From 1820 to 1830 and again from 1835 to 1841 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected from 1820 to 1824 for the constituency of the city of Bingen , 1826 to 1830 and 1835 to 1841 for the constituency of the city of Mainz. He represented liberal positions in the estates. From 1825 to 1828 he was President of the Mainz Commercial Court .
