Moritz Schmitt

Moritz Schmitt (born July 2, 1794 in Bingen , † April 5, 1850 in Mainz ) was a Hessian judge and politician and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Moritz Schmitt was the son of a doctorate doctor Philipp Schmitt and his wife Maria Anna, née Mellhaus. Schmitt, who was of Catholic faith, married Therese, born Brotzelter, on June 2, 1821 in Mainz.

Schmitt studied law from 1814 at the University of Heidelberg . In 1824 he became a supplementary judge and later a lawyer at the Mainz District Court . In 1840 he became a full member and in 1843 vice-president.

From 1832 to 1841 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was first elected for the constituency constituency Rheinhessen 5 / Bingen and then for the constituency of the city of Bingen. In 1834 he was president of the second chamber.
