Heinrich Köhler (politician, 1859)

Heinrich Wilhelm Georg Köhler (born November 26, 1859 in Bingen ; † June 2, 1924 in Mainz ) was a Hessian politician ( NLP , DVP ), a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Land estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse and Lord Mayor of Worms .

family

Heinrich Köhler was the son of the building inspector Eduard Köhler (1822–1882) and his wife Wilhelmine nee Kühn (1822–1880). On August 15, 1889, he married Eugenie (called Jenny) Cäcilie nee Weber. Heinrich Köhler was a Protestant.

education and profession

Heinrich Köhler studied law in Leipzig , Munich and Gießen after graduating from high school . After graduating, he was an accessist at the Darmstadt District and Regional Court and from 1886 to 1894 a lawyer in Darmstadt .

MP

On September 2, 1898, Heinrich Köhler succeeded Otto Wolfskehl in the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the 30th and 31st session of the Landtag, he represented the constituency of the city of Darmstadt in the Landtag. In the 34th session he replaced Andreas Reinhart in the state parliament (this time for the constituency of the city of Worms) and defended the mandate for Worms in the elections of 1911 so that he remained a member of the chamber until 1918. From 1911 to 1918 he was president of the second chamber of the estates.

He was elected to the DVP in the first Landtag of the People's State of Hesse . He gave up his mandate in the second electoral term in favor of Karl Laufer .

Local politician

From 1894 to 1898 he was a salaried alderman of the city of Darmstadt and from 1898 to 1924 he was mayor of Worms. From 1900 he carried the title of Lord Mayor. From 1910 he was mayor for life.
