Franz Weber (politician, 1816)

Franz Hyazinth Weber (born June 15, 1816 in Mainz , † April 30, 1896 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian businessman and politician ( NLP ) and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Franz Weber was the son of General State Procurator Gottfried Weber (1779–1839) and his second wife Auguste Elisabeth Katharina, née von Dusch (* 1787). Weber, who was a Catholic, married on November 24, 1847 in Moscow in his first marriage Maria Petrovna nee Dreyer (1827–1750) and in his second marriage on June 14, 1853 in Moscow Cäcilie nee Offner (1834–1908). His daughter from his first marriage, Marie, married Heinrich Bopp , the bank director in Darmstadt .

Weber was general agent of the Aachen banking house Charles James Cockerill in Moscow. In 1858 he returned to Darmstadt and started his own business there (weaver and lamp). 1865–1869 and 1872–1874 he was President of the Darmstadt Chamber of Commerce .

From 1874 to 1875 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of the city of Darmstadt . He was also a city councilor in Darmstadt.
