Arthur Osann

Arthur Osann junior (born October 27, 1862 in Darmstadt ; † October 23, 1924 there ) was a German lawyer and, as a politician ( NLP , DVP ), a member of the Reichstag , the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse .

Arthur Osann's parents were Arthur Osann senior and Anna geb. Oven, daughter of the photographer Franz oven . Arthur Osann Sr. also had a doctorate in law and worked as a court lawyer in Darmstadt and a member of the Reichstag (1890 to 1898). His grandfather, the classical philologist Friedrich Gotthilf Osann (1794-1858) was a childhood friend of the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer . Darmstadt's Osannstrasse is named after Arthur Osann senior.
Life
After studying law at the universities of Strasbourg , Leipzig , Bonn , Göttingen and casting his doctorate Arthur Osnann 1885 at the University of Giessen to Dr. iur. and later worked as a lawyer .
From 1907 to 1912 he was a member of the Reichstag . From 1906 to 1918 he was a representative of the constituency of the city of Darmstadt and, from 1911, Starkenburg 19, of the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse.
When, in the course of the November Revolution on November 8, 1918, there was a revolt in Darmstadt and a workers 'and soldiers' council was formed, Arthur Osann was appointed to the State Council by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig as a representative of the National Liberal Party . There he supported the Grand Duke against the demand for abdication, but could not prevent the subsequent deposition of the Grand Duke and the establishment of the republic. He did not follow Carl Ulrich's wish to join the transitional government, but chose the role of the opposition.
After the First World War , he was elected to the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse in 1919 and 1921 .
On June 27, 1922, on the occasion of demonstrations after the murder of Walther Rathenau during riots in Darmstadt, attacks against Osann and looting, which were dealt with in the Reichstag.
