Franz oven
Franz Bernhard Ludwig oven (born July 5, 1806 in Gotha , † March 27, 1881 in Darmstadt ) was a German court painter, photographer, court musician.
Life
Franz oven was the son of the musician and composer Heinrich oven and Barbara Johanna nee Büchner (1777-1818). On April 25, 1825, Franz Ofen began studying painting at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich . After completing his studies, he worked as a portrait painter in Darmstadt and later also as a photographer. He is a musician at the Darmstadt court of Grand Duke Ludwig III. from Hesse and the Rhine from 1841 not continuously detectable until 1864.
In 1852 he opened a shop and in 1856 a photographic studio. In 1863, as court portraitist and court musician, he gave the address of Sandstrasse in Darmstadt. Together with his son Carl, he opened a studio in Riedeselstrasse in 1875.
He married Caroline Margarethe Luise Lindt (1815–1873) on April 21, 1834. The couple had three daughters: Anna (1836–1914), Josephine (1842–1935) and Hennriette Johanne (* 1839) and a son Carl (1853–1909).
Over thirty photographs are preserved in the Royal Collection , mostly from the grand ducal family of Hessen-Darmstadt.
