Moritz Breidenbach

Moritz Wilhelm August Breidenbach (born November 13, 1796 in Offenbach am Main , † April 2, 1857 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian civil servant and former member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

family

Moritz Breidenbach was the son of the royal Ysenburg court and chamber councilor Wolf Breidenbach and his wife Merle Marianne Jeanette, born in Frankfurt (1768–1829). His brother Julius Eduard Wilhelm Breidenbach was raised to the nobility on November 1, 1837. Moritz Breidenbach married Josephine Julia nee Neustetel (born March 28, 1797 in Offenbach). Of his children, Theodor Breidenbach (1822–1851) was a court judge in Darmstadt and Otto Breidenbach (1826–1889) was a lawyer in Darmstadt.

Moritz Breidenbach was a Jew . On June 25, 1829 he was baptized Protestant in Bessungen .

education and profession

He attended high school in Frankfurt and studied from 1814 to 1817 at the University of Heidelberg Law , which he in 1817 with the promotion of Dr. jur. completed. However, in 1818 he stayed at the University of Göttingen.

In 1820 he became a government and court clerk in Darmstadt. In 1831 he was initially a tax attorney at the Ministry of the Interior and joined the ministry in the same year. There he became Ministerialrat in 1836 and acted as government commissioner at the state parliament. In 1848 he became a member of the Council of State, but retired as a result of the March Revolution of 1848. In September 1849 he was called back as senior director of studies. He remained in this position until his death on April 2, 1857.

In the 14th electoral term (1851-1856) Moritz Breidenbach was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the estates he represented the constituency of Starkenburg 1 / Darmstadt .
