Karl Philipp Wilhelm Köhler (born April 15, 1799 in Darmstadt ; † August 21, 1847 there ) was a German pastor and politician in the Grand Duchy of Hesse.

Karl Philipp Wilhelm Köhler was the son of the war council Johann Lorenz Köhler (1744–1804) and his wife Marie Louise born Wachter (1756-1820). He married Julie Clara Wilhelmine Karoline born on June 23, 1823 in Wixhausen . Eigenbrodt (* 1798 in Gesmold, † June 12, 1870), the daughter of Karl Christian Eigenbrodt and Marianne Langsdorff. Their son Karl (1832–1895) became Dr. phil. and prelate. The brother Ernst Christoph Köhler (1774–1829) was major general.

Life

From 1816 Köhler studied Protestant theology at the Hessian Ludwig University . In 1819 he became a collaborator at the Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium in Darmstadt. After the final exam in 1820, he worked as an assistant preacher. In 1826 he became pastor and clergyman inspector (dean) in Gedern and court preacher to the Stolbergs (noble family) . In 1834 he took over a pastor's office in Darmstadt. On April 8, 1835, he joined the Historical Association for the Grand Duchy of Hesse. From 1835 to 1836 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates . He was elected for the constituency of the city of Darmstadt. In 1837 he was appointed prelate of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and superintendent of the Starkenburg Province and first senior consistorial councilor in Darmstadt. As a prelate, he was a member of the first chamber of the Hessian state parliament from 1838 to 1847. From 1839 to 1847 he worked as a pastor in Darmstadt.
