Carl Walz (theologian)

Johann Heinrich Christian Carl Walz (born March 17, 1847 in Lich ; † December 13, 1929 in Darmstadt ) was a Protestant theologian and member of parliament .

Carl Walz was the son of the teacher Heinrich Karl Walz and his wife Caroline Sophie Luise nee Schnabel. On September 19, 1874, he married Charlotte Elisabeth, née Seel (* 1854).

From 1864 he studied theology and philology at the University of Giessen . From 1868 to 1869 he attended the seminary in Friedberg and from 1870 to 1871 he became a parish assistant in Lich. From 1871 to 1872 he worked as a conductor at the high school in Groß-Gerau. From 1872 to 1873 he was parish assistant in Gießen, from 1873 to 1875 court chaplain in Schönberg and from 1875 to 1879 religion teacher at the grammar school in Darmstadt. From 1879 to 1892 he worked as a pastor in Bad Nauheim , from 1892 to 1907 as senior consistorial councilor and superintendent of the province of Rheinhessen , before becoming prelate of the Evangelical Church in Hesse from 1902 to 1907 . In 1907 he was retired and honored with the title of a privy councilor .

Associated with the function of prelate was a virile vote in the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . On November 25, 1902, he took his deputy oath.
