Friedrich Karl Simon

Friedrich Karl Simon (born March 25, 1798 in Gettenau , † December 14, 1881 in Gießen ) was a Protestant theologian and member of parliament .

Simon was the son of pastor Johannes Simon (1771-1832) and his wife Wilhelmine nee Mosebach (1774-1849). He married Luise nee Mühause (1796-1850) on November 25, 1821, the daughter of the bailiff Theophil Mühause († 1807) and Katharina Karoline Luise nee Butte.

He initially received private tuition from the family and then attended grammar school from 1814 to 1815 before studying theology at the University of Giessen from 1815 to 1818 . During his studies in 1815 he became a member of the Giessen Blacks under Karl Follen , also called the Giessen Burschenschaft Germania or Germanenbund , and in 1816 the Christian-German Burschenschaft / Ehrenspiegelburschenschaft . In 1817 he took part in the Wartburg Festival. In 1818 he passed his theological exams. From 1818 to 1820 he was a tutor in Nieder-Mockstadt, from 1820 to 1821 parish administrator and from 1821 to 1837 pastor in Rodheim an der Horloff. From 1833 he was also dean of the Nidda deanery . From 1833 to 1837 he was vicar superintendent and from 1837 to 1874 superintendent of the province of Upper Hesse . In 1853 he was awarded a Dr. theol. hc doctorate. In 1872 he became prelate of the Evangelical Church in Hesse , before retiring in 1874 at his own request.

Associated with the function of prelate was a virile vote in the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . On October 31, 1872, he took his deputy oath. From December 13, 1873 he was represented in the Chamber by Carl Schmitt .

In 1848 he was a member of the constitutional commission of the Evangelical Church. He was made an honorary citizen of Giessen.
