Johann Friedrich Heinrich Schwabe

Johann Friedrich Heinrich Schwabe (born March 14, 1779 in Eichelborn , † December 29, 1834 in Darmstadt ) was a German mineralogist , Protestant pastor and member of parliament .

Schwabe was the son of a high school teacher and later pastor. On June 14, 1803 he married Sophie Charlotte nee Müller (1786-1853), the daughter of the parish priest in Eisleben.

Life

Schwabe initially received home tuition and then attended high school in Eisleben from 1792 to 1796. From 1796 to 1801 he studied theology and philosophy at the University of Jena , where he also began to be interested in mineralogy. In 1800 he passed the candidate examination as a pastor in Weimar and in November 1800 was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate (with a dissertation on mineralogy) and in 1801 he became a private lecturer and librarian in Jena.

From 1802 to 1821 he was pastor in Wormstedt, from 1821 to 1827 superintendent and senior pastor in Neustadt an der Orla . In 1827 the University of Marburg honored him with the doctorate to Dr. theol. hc From 1827 to 1833 he was court preacher and senior consistory advisor and administrator of the charitable foundations in Weimar .

In the years 1833 to 1834 he was pastor, first senior consistorial councilor and superintendent of the Starkenburg province and prelate of the Evangelical Church in Hesse . Associated with the function of prelate was a virile vote in the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . On July 2, 1833, he took his deputy oath.

Together with Johann Georg Lenz he edited the annals of the Mineralogical Society in Jena.
