Heinrich Berthold

Heinrich Bruno Berthold (born June 10, 1856 in Zschoppelshain ; † April 24, 1935 in Darmstadt ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and a member of the Reichstag .

family

Heinrich Berthold was the son of the farmer Johann Berthold and his wife Eleonore nee Nebel. Heinrich Berthold married on October 12, 1879 in Darmstadt in their first marriage Marie nee Hübner (1852–1888) and in their second marriage on June 5, 1888 in Darmstadt Anna Sophie widowed Hübner nee Friedrich.

education and profession

Heinrich Berthold did an apprenticeship as a shoemaker and then worked as a journeyman and from 1880 as an independent orthopedic master shoemaker. He then worked as a bookseller in Darmstadt from 1890 to 1907 .

politics

In the 31st to 36th (and last) electoral period (1899-1918) Heinrich Berthold was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the state estates he represented the constituency Starkenburg 14 / Groß Gerau in the 31st to 34th electoral terms and the constituency Starkenburg 15 / Bischofsheim-Rüsselsheim in the 35th and 36th electoral terms.

In a by-election in the constituency of Hessen 4 (Darmstadt-Groß-Gerau), Heinrich Berthold won a seat in the Reichstag in the runoff election against a national liberal candidate (as the successor to Balthasar Cramer , who resigned from his seat on February 11, 1906). In the Reichstag election in 1907 , he was not elected to parliament.
