Balthasar Cramer

Balthasar Cramer (born December 4, 1851 in Darmstadt , † October 23, 1923 there ) was a German SPD politician .

Life

Cramer was born the son of a copper printer. He attended primary school in Darmstadt from 1857 to 1865, learned carpentry from 1865 to 1868 and worked as a journeyman until 1874 . After that he was an innkeeper in Darmstadt until 1903. Then he lived as a privateer .

Since 1875 he belonged to the social democratic party. From 1894 he took part in several party conventions. Cramer was a member of the Central Party Control Commission in 1900 and 1901. From 1901 to 1906 he was a city councilor in Darmstadt. Between 1893 and 1905 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament . From 1898 to 1906 he was a member of the Reichstag . After internal disputes within the party, Cramer resigned from the Reichstag in 1906. In 1910 he resigned from the SPD.
