August Kugler

August Ludwig Kugler (born February 12, 1824 in Offenbach am Main ; † June 12, 1892 there ) was a German entrepreneur and politician .

Life

August Kugler, son of the tradesman Johann Wilhelm Kugler, studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic in Karlsruhe from 1840 to 1844 and became a member of the Teutonia fraternity in the winter semester of 1843/44 . In the following years he traveled to many European countries as part of his training . From 1851 he was Associé of the W. Kugler-Zinn company and in 1862 and 1865 a member of the German Trading Conference in Munich . In 1865 he founded a bank association in Offenbach and became its director. Also in Offenbach he later became director of the gas and water works.

Kugler was a member of the Offenbach city ​​council . From 1862 to 1866 and from 1875 to 1892 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament , first for the Hessian Progressive Party and then for the National Liberal Party . From 1879 to 1892 he was President of the State Parliament . From 1868 to 1870 he was a member of the customs parliament for the constituency of Hesse 5 ( Offenbach , Dieburg ).
