Philipp Casimir Krafft (born April 5, 1773 in Kaiserslautern , † May 12, 1836 in Offenbach am Main ) was a German tobacco manufacturer and member of the state parliament.

Life

Philipp Casimir Krafft was a tobacco and cigar manufacturer in Offenbach. From 1821 to 1836 he was the founding president of the Offenbach Chamber of Commerce and Industry . In 1812 he bought the former Stromersche house at Theresienstraße 7 in Nuremberg, which was converted by Jakob Welser in 1512, from the von Pfinzing family.

Krafft was elected to the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse for the constituency of the city of Offenbach in 1820 and was a member of the chamber until 1824.

He is buried in the old cemetery in Offenbach .

family

Philipp Casimir Krafft, who was a Protestant denomination, married Louise Christiane nee Heintz, the daughter of Andreas Heinz and Maria Catharina Koch. The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Philipp Casimir Krafft (1799–1850), merchant, tobacco manufacturer
  • Carl Krafft (1800–1864), cigar manufacturer
  • Auguste Christiane Friederike Bastian, b. Krafft (1803–1873), married the merchant in Bremen Hermann Theodor Bastian,
  • Emilie Louise Rosine d'Orville, b. Krafft (1810–1880), married the tobacco manufacturer Adolf Heinrich d'Orville

Since 2016, the Haus der Stadtgeschichte (Offenbach am Main) has been showing two renovated portraits of the Kraft couple from the 1840s, which were bought at auction in 2014.
