Georg Buff

Adolf Georg Martin Buff (born September 14, 1804 in Assenheim , † December 15, 1890 in Gießen ) was a Hessian judge and politician and a liberal member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Georg Buff was the son of the Solms chamber assessor and rent master Ludwig Heinrich Samuel Buff (1766-1838) and his wife Karoline, née Richter. Buff, who was of Protestant faith, married Christine, née Keller (1804–1839), on April 9, 1833 in Ober-Mockstadt, the daughter of the pastor, teacher and delegate Johannes Martin Keller .

He studied law and became court clerk at the court in Gießen in 1829 and assessor at the regional court in Schotten in 1831 . In 1832 he became assessor with voting rights and in 1835 councilor at the Giessen court . In 1855 he rose to the higher appellate and cassation judge at the higher appeal court Darmstadt and in 1862 was president of the court in Giessen . In 1879 he retired.

From 1841 to 1849, 1856 to 1862 and 1866 to 1873 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was initially elected for the constituency Oberhessen 8 / Grünberg , then Oberhessen3 / Wieseck or Staufenberg and finally Oberhessen 5 Gießen-Land. From 1859 to 1862 he was Vice-President and from 1866 to 1872 President of the Second Chamber.

In 1873 he was appointed a lifelong member of the First Chamber of the Estates by the Grand Duke.
