Egidius Gutfleisch

Egidius Tobias Valentin Karl Gutfleisch (* July 23, 1844 in Lorsch ; † May 3, 1914 in Gießen ) was a lawyer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Egidius Gutfleisch was the son of the district judge Johann Joseph Gutfleisch (1811-1882) and his wife Elisabeth, born Goth (1820-1851). Egidius Gutfleisch remained unmarried.

Gutfleisch attended high schools in Bensheim and Darmstadt until 1862 and then studied law at the universities in Heidelberg and Gießen until 1865. In autumn 1865 he passed the law faculty examination in Gießen and in 1868 the state examination in Darmstadt. Until 1871 he was a court accessist and legal private teacher and then a lawyer in Giessen.

He was a member of the district committee of the Gießen district, the provincial committee of the province of Upper Hesse and the provincial assembly of the province of Upper Hesse. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Hessian bar association and the supervisory board of the commercial bank in Gießen. From 1881 to 1893 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of Hessen-Nassau and from 1881 to 1884 and from 1890 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag. In his first legislative term as a member of the Reichstag, he represented the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Hesse 1 (Gießen) and belonged to the parliamentary group of the Liberal Association . From 1890 to 1893 he was a member of the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Hesse 2 (Friedberg - Büdingen) and a member of the progressive party. From 1887 to 1893 and from 1899 to 1911 he was a member of the second chamber of the state parliament of the Grand Duchy of Hesse as a representative of the electoral district Oberhessen 5 / Gießen-Land and the city of Gießen .
