Wilhelm Grünewald

Wilhelm Grünewald (born June 18, 1859 in Babenhausen (Hesse) , † July 14, 1925 in Gießen ) was a German politician ( Progressive People's Party , DDP ).

Life and work

After high school in Darmstadt in 1878 studied Grünewald, the Protestant faith in which was until 1882 University of Giessen and at the University of Leipzig law . After passing both state examinations (1882 and 1885) he settled in Giessen as a lawyer. He was chairman of the Giessen University Society. In 1891 he took part in the founding of the Babenhausen gymnastics club and was a member of the founding board. The association made him an honorary member posthumously in 1927.

Political party

During the German Empire, Grünewald was a member of the Progressive People's Party . In 1918 he participated in the founding of the DDP .

MP

From 1892 to 1912 he was a city councilor in Gießen. From 1911 to 1918 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly .
