August Hess (politician)

August Emil Karl Friedrich Theodor Hess (born December 15, 1832 in Gießen ; † February 24, 1897 ibid) was a Hessian gas manufacturer and politician and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

August Hess was the son of court attorney Dr. Karl Friedrich Christian Hess (1798–1835) and his wife Sophie, née Blaser. Hess, who was a Protestant, was a gas manufacturer in Gießen and in 1862 married Therese Auguste Luise nee Scholz (1843–1925).

From 1865 to 1873 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of the city of Giessen . In Giessen he was also an alderman and member of the district council.
