Heinrich Fulda

Heinrich Hugo Fulda (born November 22, 1860 in Worms ; died 1943 in Auschwitz ) was a social democratic politician.

Life

Fulda was a son of the Jewish merchant Simon Fulda and his wife Charlotte Lea, born. Star. He studied law in Heidelberg , Würzburg , Leipzig and Gießen and became a lawyer in Darmstadt . From 1909 he was a member of the city council and later also of the district council.

From 1905 to 1918 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse for the Social Democratic Party in the constituency of Starkenburg 15 and 16 / Langen, and from 1919 to 1921 of the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse . After Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig was deposed by the Darmstadt Workers 'and Soldiers' Council, the chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, Carl Ulrich, was entrusted with forming a government. The government appointed on November 14, 1918 consisted of members of the SPD, the Progressive Party (DDP) and the center. In this first cabinet, Fulda was appointed Interior Minister, Konrad Henrich (Progressive Party) as Minister of Finance and Otto Rudolf von Brentano di Tremezzo (Center) as Minister of Justice. After severe criticism of Fulda’s administration, he resigned from office in 1921; Justice Minister Brentano also took over the interior department.

Because Fulda was a Jew, he was deported to Auschwitz in 1943 and murdered there.
