Federico Agostini

Federico Agostini (* 1959 in Trieste ) is an Italian violinist .

Life

Agostini comes from a family of musicians. He received his first violin lessons at the age of six from his grandfather Franco Gulli senior, after which he studied at the conservatories of Trieste , Venice and Siena . At the age of 16 he made his debut as a soloist under the direction of Carlo Zecchi . From 1981 to 1986 he was a member of the Virtuosi di Roma , from 1986 to 1992 concertmaster of I Musici . Since 1987 he has been a member of the Quintetto Fauré di Roma . In 1992 he began a long-term collaboration with the French-American pianist Claude Cymerman, with whom he toured Europe, Japan and the USA. In 2004 he founded the D'Amici String Quartet with James Creitz , Yosuke Kawasaki and Sadao Harada . As a soloist, Agostini a. a. with the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI , the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic .

Since 1978 Agostini has also been active as a teacher. He taught at the Venice and Trieste conservatories for eight years; From 1992 he was a lecturer for violin and chamber music at the State University for Music in Trossingen . From 2002–2012 he was Associate Professor at Indiana University , Jacobs School of Music , Bloomington . In 2012 he was appointed professor of violin at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester , New York. He regularly gives master classes in Japan, Denmark, Sweden and Italy.

Agostini is on the jury of the Concours de Genève and the Concorso Internazionale per Quartetto d'archi di Cremona .
