Johann Georg Room

Johann Georg Zimmer (born November 11, 1777 on the Untermühle near Bad Homburg in front of the height ; † February 6, 1853 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a Hessian pastor, publisher and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Johann Georg Zimmer was the son of the mill owner Johann Conrad Zimmer (1739-1817) and his wife Anna Katharina , née Huss (1742-1825). Zimmer, who was of Protestant faith, married Marie Charlotte, born in Rohrbach near Heidelberg, on July 19, 1807, the daughter of the Rohrbach pastor Karl Friedrich Julius Bender.

From 1791 Zimmer began his apprenticeship with the booksellers Johann Ludwig Zessler in Frankfurt am Main, Johann Christian Dieterich in Göttingen and with Friedrich Christoph Perthes in Hamburg. In 1805, together with Jakob Christian Benjamin Mohr, he founded the academic bookstore Mohr & Zimmer with a publisher and range in Heidelberg . He mainly published representatives of Heidelberg Romanticism such as Friedrich Creuzer and Carl Daub . He also published the first edition of Des Knaben Wunderhorn .

In 1811 he began to study Protestant theology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , which he completed in 1814. After his ordination he became pastor in Schriesheim in 1815 . From there he was appointed to the Lutheran congregation of Worms in 1816 . In 1823 he moved to Lich as a monastery dean and in 1827 to the pastoral office of the German Reformed community in Frankfurt am Main . Here he also served as consistorial councilor .

From 1826 to 1827 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of the city of Worms .
