Gustav Adolf Koebel

Gustav Adolf Körbel (born October 6, 1902 in Höchst an der Nidder ; † March 15, 1969 in Worms ) was a German lawyer and, in 1934, the provisional mayor of Worms.

Life

After studying law and completing his legal clerkship, Körbel, the son of a pastor, was appointed court assessor at the local court in Zwingenberg and shortly afterwards moved to the local court in Mainz . From 1929 he was authorized signatory of the Hessian Housing Welfare Society in Darmstadt and from 1931 to 1933 legal advisor of the Nassauische Heimstätte in Frankfurt am Main. During his studies in 1921 he joined the Germania Gießen fraternity .

After the National Socialist Otto Schwebel took over the office of Mayor of Worms in the summer of 1933 , Körbel, who was also a member of the NSDAP, was employed as an alderman in Worms . In this capacity, after Schwebel's resignation, he served as the city's provisional mayor from February 1, 1934 to August 19, 1934. After Heinrich Bartholomäus from Giessen was appointed mayor on August 20, 1934 , Körbel remained an alderman for the city until the end of World War II. Among other things, the Städtische Sparkasse Worms belonged to his business area .

After the Second World War and the denazification in the Hohenasperg internment camp , Körbel returned to business and became managing director and later partner of Karl Kübel GmbH in Worms and Bensheim.
