Mainz District Court
The Mainz District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction . It is one of four local courts in the district of the Mainz Regional Court .
Jurisdiction and seat
The seat of the court is Mainz . The judicial district of the Mainz District Court includes the city of Mainz, the municipality of Budenheim , the municipalities of Bodenheim , Nieder-Olm and Rhein-Selz as well as the Ingelheim districts of Heidesheim am Rhein and Wackernheim .
history
Mainz had been the place of jurisdiction for many centuries. With the establishment of the Donnersberg department as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , a district court and a district peace court (from 1804: cantonal court) were established in Mainz for the jurisdiction of the first instance . These courts continued to exist in the time of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . With the municipal reforms of 1832/1836, the division into two parts was abolished and instead a district court I and II (from October 24, 1852 district court) was established for the city districts I and II. With the Courts Constitution Act of 1877 , a nationwide uniform judicial organization was created for the first time. In the Grand Duchy, this new judicial organization was implemented with the Introductory Act of September 3, 1878 (and the Implementation Act of May 14, 1879). The Mainz courts of first instance were combined as the Mainz District Court.
building
The court is housed in two neighboring buildings in the Mainz-Altstadt district.
The entrance to building A is at Diether-von-Isenburg-Straße 1 - it is a side wing of the Mainz regional court. This building was designed by the architect Paul Bonatz and inaugurated on July 8, 1910. In World War II the building was heavily damaged up to 1956 in its current simplified form. A few years ago it was completely renovated again (work ended in February 2006).
Building B is at Ernst-Ludwig-Straße 7.
Superior courts
The Mainz Regional Court is superordinate to the Mainz District Court. The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court Koblenz .
