Eberhard Soherr

Eberhard Soherr (born September 6, 1812 in Bingen , † March 25, 1887 in Darmstadt ) was a German politician . He was a member of the Hessian state parliament and mayor of Bingen.

Life

Eberhard Soherr was the son of the merchant, landowner and city ​​councilor Peter Philipp Soherr and his wife Margaretha née Fischer. Soherr, who was of a Catholic denomination, married Elise nee Zeidt in her first marriage and Marie nee Dumont in her second marriage.

After attending secondary school in Kreuznach , he studied philosophy , mathematics , physics and architecture at the Royal Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Munich . During his studies he became a member of the Germania Munich fraternity in 1831 . In 1832 he took part in the Stuttgart Boys' Day. In the Black Book of the Frankfurt Federal Central Authority he is noted because of his participation in the fraternity under No. 1592; he was charged with high treason and was finally acquitted after three years of trial.

After graduating as an architect , he took over his father's property and went into politics. So he was from 1856 to 1865 for the democratic-liberal Progress Party member of the city of Bingen in the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . From 1859 to 1867 he was mayor of Bingen. From 1867 to 1872 he was a member of the Binger Lodge at the Temple of Friendship .

Works

In 1853, from 1875 to 1879, Eberhard Soherr had the neo-Gothic main building of Klopp Castle built for his brother-in-law Ludwig Maria Cron as a middle-class summer residence. Since 1897 this has been the seat of the city administration.
