Clemens Friedrich August Lauteren (born October 25, 1786 in Mainz ; † October 10, 1877 there ) was a Mainz wine merchant, entrepreneur, Hessian politician and former member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

family

Clemens Lauteren was the son of the wine merchant and commercial judge Christian Lauteren (1755–1843) and his second wife Maria Elisabeth, née Reinhart. Clemens Lauteren, Roman Catholic , married Maria Franziska Katharina born Kayser (1791–1870) in Mainz in 1810 , a daughter of the freight forwarder GL Kayser . The marriage resulted in Christian Ludwig , who, as an entrepreneur and member of the state parliament (1st Chamber of the Hessian estates), took over his father's inheritance and three other children.

Clemens Lauteren died seven years after his wife, two weeks before his 91st birthday. He was buried in the main cemetery in Mainz .

Clemens Lauteren took over his father's wine trade . He was one of the five founders of the Hessian Ludwig Railway , then initially Vice President, from 1854 to 1867 President and finally Honorary President of the Board of Directors of this company.

He was active as a member of the Chamber of Commerce from 1829 to 1848 and was President of the Commercial Court from 1835 to 1849 and again from 1851 to 1853. In 1858 he was awarded the title of a secret council of commerce .

In the 10th electoral term (1844-1847) Clemens Lauteren was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the state estates he represented the constituency of the city of Mainz .
