Frank Harrison Walker (born October 17, 1943 in Jersey ) is a British politician who was Jersey's first chief minister between 2005 and 2008 .

Life

Walker, who started his professional career in 1973 as Managing Director of W. E Guiton & Co. Ltd. began, was elected for the first time on December 13, 1990 as a member of the States of Jersey and represented the constituency of St. Helier No. 3 (Vingtaine du Rouge Bouillon and Vingtaine du Mont à l'Abbé) . In the 1996 elections he was elected as a Senator to the States of Jersey and was now a member of this after his re-election on December 12, 2002 to 2008. During this time he was, among other things, chairman of the finance and economic committee.

On December 8, 2005, Walker became the first Chief Minister of Jersey after he was able to prevail on December 5, 2005 in the election in the States of Jersey with 38 against Stuart Syvret , which had 14 votes. He held this post until December 12, 2008, after which he was replaced by the previous Minister for Treasure and Resources Terry Le Sueur . He also served as Chairman of the States Employment Board from 2005 to 2008 . For his services to Jersey he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on January 1, 2011 . In 2016 his controversial personnel decisions, such as the dismissal of Police Commissioner Graham Power, which he defended, were investigated.
