Franklin J. Maloney

Franklin John Maloney (born March 29, 1899 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , †  September 15, 1958 ) was an American politician . Between 1947 and 1949 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Franklin Maloney attended public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree at the Law School of Temple University and his admission as a lawyer in 1923, he began to work in Philadelphia in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1944 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the 1946 congressional elections , Maloney was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat John E. Sheridan on January 3, 1947 . Since he was not confirmed in 1948, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1949. This was shaped by the events of the beginning Cold War . During his time as a member of Congress, he was a member of the Committee on Fisheries and the Merchant Navy. He was also a member of a subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs Committee that explored the cultures of other nations. In this capacity he was often on business trips. Maloney supported the then newly formed state of Israel and was otherwise against a further division of the Middle East region.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Franklin Maloney practiced as a lawyer again. He died in Philadelphia on September 15, 1958.
