The Franklin Point is a striking and rocky headland to the west of Intercurrence Iceland in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula .
The British geoscientist Henry Foster roughly mapped the headland in 1829 and named it Cape Franklin . It is probably named after the British Arctic explorer John Franklin (1786–1847). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee changed the toponym in 1960 to reflect the actual nature of the geographic object.
