František Hrubín
František Hrubín (born September 17, 1910 in Prague , Austria-Hungary ; died March 1, 1971 in Budweis ) was a Czech writer, author of nature and love poetry, poet.
Life
In his youth he lived in Lešany . After graduating from high school in Prague, he studied philosophy and theology at Charles University , but dropped out in 1932. From 1934 he worked in the City Library in Prague and later in the Ministry of Information. From 1946 until his death he was a full-time writer.
Hrubín co-founded the children's magazine Quendel (Mateřídouška) and edited it from 1945 to 1950.
Together with Jaroslav Seifert, in 1956 he criticized the appropriation of literature by politics and stood up for imprisoned writers. This initially led to a complete ban on publications, but later he was allowed to work as a translator and children's book author.
