Frants Landt

Frants Georg Carl Landt (born January 17, 1885 in Nysted , † April 21, 1975 in Nysted) was a Danish marine painter , seaman and pilot .

Life

The son of a fisherman was hired as a seaman early on, became first officer and later worked as a pilot.

Frants Landt started painting in 1912. He acquired the necessary knowledge as an autodidact . After a first, private exhibition in 1932, he exhibited in 1936 at the Royal Danish Art Academy at Charlottenborg Palace .

He accompanied King Christian X of Denmark as a painter in 1936 and King Friedrich IX in 1956 . from Denmark on the royal yacht Dannebrog on voyages in the North Sea .

From around 1960 he only painted to order. Today his pictures are in museums and private collections - inside and outside Denmark.
