French Church of St. Moritz

The French Church in St. Moritz Bad (also in use, the French name Église au bois ) is an Evangelical - Reformed church under protection of the canton of Grisons . It is located on the Plazza Paracelsus and, next to the Reformed village church and the bath church, is the third preaching site of the reformed St. Moritz parish.

History and equipment

The church was built as a typical neo-Gothic work in 1875–77 by the architect Nicolaus Hartmann sen. built and served as a place of worship for the French-speaking Calvinist community.

The church interior, kept in subdued light, shows an open roof structure . The choir , dominated by a central high pulpit , is covered by a ribbed vault.

Church organization

The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden leads the French Church as the preaching church of the parish of St. Moritz within the Colloquium VII Engiadin'Ota-Bregaglia-Poschiavo-Surses .

A committee organizes a series of French-language church services in the Église au Bois every summer.
