history

The House of Art

The cultural scientist Max Deen Larsen (1943–2018) founded a summer academy with master classes in 1978 , in which highly talented young singers from all over the world are given the opportunity to receive further training from renowned song interpreters. The courses last about five to six weeks and have been held at the Haus der Kunst in Baden since 1988 .

Larsen attached great importance to the fact that the singers were on the one hand linguistically coached, on the other hand, but also learned the background of the poems set to music, the composers, the lyricists and the history of ideas and intellectual history from experts.

The teachers Larsen signed included Walter Berry , Hans Hotter , Irmgard Seefried , Erik Werba , Elisabeth Kalliana , Kieth Engen and others. The soprano Elly Ameling and the bassist Robert Holl are still active .
