Franz Bayer (politician)

Franz Bayer (born September 1, 1853 in Saaz ; † January 27, 1930 ) was a Bohemian ophthalmologist and local politician.

Life

Bayer was born in Saaz in 1853 as the son of the kk regimental doctor of the 7th Dragoon Regiment Michael Bayer and his wife Aloisia Potzauer. He studied in Prague medicine and became a doctor of medicine doctorate . He was one of the founding fellows of Landsmannschaft Hercynia Prague . In addition to his work as an ophthalmologist, he had been the city representative in Reichenberg since 1885 . From March 23, 1893 to March 23, 1929 Bayer was mayor of the city of Reichenberg . During his term of office, the construction of the crematorium, completed in 1918, fell on the Monstranzberg, to which he made a significant contribution. This was the first crematorium on the territory of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy . His successor was Carl Kostka .
