Franz Bittner (trade unionist)

Franz Bittner (born November 17, 1953 in Vienna ) is an Austrian trade unionist . From 1993 to 2006 he was chairman of the printing, journalism, paper (djp) union and from 1997 to 2009 chairman of the Vienna regional health insurance fund . Since 2013 he has been the patient ombudsman of the Medical Association for Vienna.

Life

Franz Bittner attended compulsory school from 1960 to 1969, after which he completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer . He completed his apprenticeship in 1973. From 1969 to 1993 he worked for Kurier AG / Mediaprint Reprotechnik. In 1987/88 he attended the Social Academy of the Vienna Chamber of Labor .

From 1993 he was chairman of the union of printing, journalism, paper (djp), from 2006 chairman-deputy of the union of private employees, printing, journalism, paper (GPA-djp) merged with the union of the private employees (GPA ). From 1997 to 2009 he was chairman of the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund (WGKK), then he was managing director of Peri Human Relations GmbH , and since 2011 he has been an independent consultant in the Austrian healthcare system. Ingrid Reischl succeeded him as chairwoman of the WGKK in 2009. Bittner was a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Employment Service (AMS) for four years, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Vocational Promotion Institute (BFI) Vienna for 18 years and a member of the Chamber of Labor in Vienna and the Federal Chamber of Labor for 18 years .

In the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions , he was chairman of the service law committee from 1998 to 2003, chairman of the general meeting from 2001 to 2005 and chairman of the conference of institutions from 2005 to 2009. In 2013 he was elected patient ombudsman of the Medical Association for Vienna.
