Franz Breiner

Franz Breiner (born January 23, 1952 in Linz ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ). From 2006 to 2008 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council .

education and profession

Breiner attended elementary school from 1958 to 1962 and then moved to a grammar school from 1962 to 1968. Between 1968 and 1971 he graduated from the music and pedagogical federal high school in Linz and passed his Matura there in 1971 . As a result, he studied teaching for elementary schools at the Federal Pedagogical Academy in Linz and completed his community service.

Breiner worked as a primary school teacher from 1973 to 1974 and then worked as a secondary school teacher from 1974 to 1998. In 1998 he was promoted to principal school director and headed the secondary school in Lenzing . In 2008 he was appointed district school inspector for the Vöcklabruck-West region. In 2012, Breiner retired.

Politics and functions

Breiner has been active within the Upper Austrian Greens since the mid-1980s and is also involved in the Green Education Workshop . From 1985 to 1986 he was a member of the provincial party committee of the Green Alternative Upper Austria and was then a member of the provincial party committee of the Greens Upper Austria from 1986 to 2001. From 2003 to 2007 he was again a member of the provincial party executive of the Greens Upper Austria.

Between 1991 and 2001 he was chairman of the Green Educational Workshop Upper Austria, from 1996 to 1997 he was also a member of the federal board of the Green Educational Workshop Austria and from 2001 to 2003 financial advisor of the Green Educational Workshop Upper Austria. Between 2003 and 2007 he was again chairman of the Green Educational Workshop Upper Austria and has been a member of the provincial board of the Green Teachers Upper Austria since 1998.

From 1997 to 1999, Breiner was also a member of the college of the Upper Austrian State School Council and has been a member of the LKUF Supervisory Board since 1998. He represented the Upper Austrian Greens in the Federal Council from October 30, 2006 to March 31, 2008. From 2007 to 2008 he was vice chairman of the committee for sports affairs and also worked as a member of the committee for economy and labor, as a member of the health committee and as a member of the committee for teaching, art.

In 2013, Breiner was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit of the State of Upper Austria .
