Franz Claus

Franz Claus (born September 11, 1895 in Kastellaun , † March 22, 1958 in Simmern / Hunsrück ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school, Claus completed engineering training at the Rheinisches Technikum in Bingen from 1918 to 1920 and then worked as a self-employed electrical engineer in Simmern . From 1938 to 1945 he was conscripted and sent to the naval shipyard in Wilhelmshaven . After the end of the war he worked again as an electrical engineer.

politics

Claus was a member of the DVP before 1933 . From 1925 until the National Socialists came to power in 1933, he was a member of the Simmern district council (Hunsrück). During the time of National Socialism he could not continue his political work. From 1935 to 1945 he was a member of the National Socialist Association of German Technology and from 1938 to 1945 a member of the DAF .

After 1945 he joined the LP , which later became the regional association of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate . In 1946 he was re-elected to the Simmern district council and became a district committee member.

Claus was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946/47 and then belonged to the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag until his death . From 1951 to 1955 he was chairman of the Committee on Economy and Reconstruction. In 1954 he was a member of the 2nd Federal Assembly .
