Franz Dank (* 1928 in Jülich ; † 1997 in Cologne ) was a German painter and art professor.
Life
Franz Dank studied painting with Otto Gerster in the 1940s and became his assistant and master student . He then worked as a freelance artist in the Rhineland until he was appointed lecturer for the basics of painting and painting techniques at the Cologne factory schools in 1961 . From 1973 on, he led a master class in the field of art and design at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences as a professor of free painting for 20 years , until the course was closed in 1993 after the art college for media was founded.
Until his death in 1997, Franz Dank had dealt with art for almost 50 years, with the result that his late work became very unique and extremely reduced in form and color. Franz Dank's master students include Thomas Baumgärtel , Marina Brunori , Noushin Kiani , Sabine Odensaß , Sabine Schaffmeister , Volker Saul and Elisabeth Rietmeyer.
