Sabine Odensass

Sabine Odensaß (* 1958 in Cologne ) is a German painter .

life and work

From 1976 to 1984 Sabine Odensaß studied painting with Franz Dank at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences for Art & Design. In 1985 she completed her studies as a master class student. In 1983 she received the Max Ernst Scholarship from the city of Brühl as the third prize winner. In 1985 she received an art grant from the city of Bonn.

In the first few years Sabine Odensaß dealt with figurative painting. In the period that followed, she abstracted the “images of man” from that time and increasingly reduced her formal language. The first "stripe pictures" were the end of this creative phase.

Since 2000, color has come to the fore in Sabine Odensaß's pictures. In current pictures, numerous layers of paint are applied glazed on slanted canvases. The works are characterized by high intensity and color density.

Sabine Odensaß lives and works in Pulheim near Cologne .
