Volker Saul
Volker Saul (* 1955 in Düren ) is a German sculptor and painter .
life and work
From 1977 to 1982 Saul studied at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in the field of art and design ( Kölner Werkschulen ), with Pravoslav Sovak and Franz Dank , with whom he was also a master student. The artist's work consists of wall objects , drawings and wall paintings that deal with signs, associations and the resulting irritations. His large-format paintings, some of them laid out in triptychs, were created in the late 1980s and resemble school blackboards in which, on a dark-colored background, layers of drawing with chalk and wiping create corresponding large forms that “emerge from the depths of the fund, the top ones as fresh more and more erased, as it were: almost invisible, then shadowy and finally clear, they emerge from the transparently saturated, sonorous bed of color, which, itself in multiple layers, binds the pigments in different densities so that the surface appears to be space drive up the messages to unfathomable depth.
