The Crnogorski Planinski Gonič (Montenegrin Mountain Hound, formerly Yugoslav Mountain Hound) is a breed from Montenegro recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 6, Section 1.2, Standard No. 279 ).

Origin and history

This breed is closely with the other hounds of the Balkans related. The first standard dates from 1924. This breed was recognized by the FCI in 1969.

description

Up to 56 cm tall and 25 kg heavy hunting dog , black as the basic color with red markings. The coat is short, dense, rough, thin, shiny, well-fitting and smooth with an abundant undercoat. Its ears are set high, of medium length, thin to medium thick, dropping down without folds and lying close to the head.

use

Like all hounds, the dogs are suitable for hunting, but also as companion dogs.
