Franz Eder (association official)
Franz Eder (born July 25, 1920 in Sankt Stefan im Rosental ; † March 24, 1999 in Graz ) was President of the Austrian Comradeship Association from 1987 to 1993 and Mayor of Sankt Stefan im Rosental from 1951 to 1988.
Life and activities
Franz Eder took part in the Second World War from 1940 to 1945 as a soldier in the 5th Mountain Division . He founded a construction company, which in 1985 had around 450 employees.
Eder was a member of the ÖVP . From 1951 to 1988 he was mayor of his home community Sankt Stefan im Rosental.
From 1965 to 1999 he was President of the Styrian National Association of the Comradeship Association; his successor was Peter Rieser . From 1987 to 1993 he was president of the Austrian Comradeship Association , which at that time had over 270,000 members. He handed over the presidency to Felix Ermacora in 1993 .
Awards
For his services he was awarded the Great Gold Medal of Honor of the State of Styria and the title of Kommerzialrat .
