Franz Flaskamp

Franz Xaver Flaskamp (born October 15, 1890 in St. Vit ; † April 20, 1985 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück ) was a German historian , archivist and author in Westphalia .

Flaskamp studied history and theology at the University of Münster and received his doctorate with a thesis on The Hessian Missionary Work of St. Boniface . He became an archivist in Münster and later in Wiedenbrück . He dealt in particular with the early Christianization and church history of Westphalia , with Westphalian personalities of contemporary history, with Westphalian institutions as well as the cultural history of Westphalia and the history of Wiedenbrück.

He is the author of more than 100 publications. Flaskamp was elected a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia in November 1950 . In April 1970 he was also elected honorary member of the commission.
