The Trolleybus Freiburg , French Trolleybus de Friborg , is the trolleybus system of the Swiss city of Freiburg , French Friborg . One route each leads across the city limits to the neighboring towns of Villars-sur-Glâne and Givisiez . The trolleybus was opened in 1949 and gradually replaced the former Freiburg tram in Üechtland until 1965 . The original operating company was Transports en commun de Friborg ( TF ); since a merger that took place in early 2000, the trolleybus operation has belonged to the Freiburg Transport Authority ( tpf ). Independently of this, the Gleislose Bahn operated from Freiburg to Farvagny , an early trolleybus overland route , between 1912 and 1932 .

Lines

There are three trolleybus diameter lines , including the duo bus line 1:

1 Granges-Paccot , Portes-de-Friborg – Poya (diesel operation)
Poya – Pérolles Charmettes (electrical operation)
Pérolles Charmettes– Marly , Gérine (diesel operation)
10-minute intervals 9 electrically operated stops
12 stops operated in diesel mode
2 Schönberg Dunant – Villars-sur-Glâne, Les Dailles 7.5-minute intervals 22 stops
3 Givisiez, Mont-Carmel-Pérolles Charmettes 15-minute intervals 15 stops

history

The individual sections of the network went into operation as follows:

January 31, 1949 Jura Chassotte – St-Pierre – Gare-CFF (2.92 kilometers)
May 15, 1949 Tilleul – St-Pierre and Gare-CFF – Vignettaz-Daler
October 1, 1959 Tilleul – Schönberg Dunant
April 1, 1965 Poya – Tilleul and Gare – Pérolles Charmettes
? Vignettaz-Daler-Villars-sur-Glâne, Moncor
June 16, 2005 Villars-sur-Glâne, Moncor – Villars-sur-Glâne, Les Dailles (1.23 km)
December 18, 2010 Givisiez, Mont-Carmel-Jura Chassotte

The non-electrified sections of Line 1 have been served by this since June 16, 2002, before that it was also a pure trolleybus line. In addition, from 2010 to December 2012 certain routes on line 2 left their regular route at the Moncor stop in order to serve four additional stops in the industrial area of Les Biches using a loop. This was done once or twice an hour using the auxiliary diesel drive . In the absence of an electrified turning option, this will continue to be used for the shortened routes on line 3, which only runs to the train station in the evenings, on Saturdays and Sundays and turns there in the bus station.
