Franz Haniel (industrialist)

Franz Hugo Ernst Eberhard Haniel (born June 26, 1883 , † March 4, 1965 ) was a major German industrialist.

Life

Franz Haniel was born as the son of the industrialist Franz Haniel junior . He completed a law degree in Bonn, which he completed with a doctorate. During his studies he became a member of the Corps Palatia Bonn in 1903 . He then joined the Gutehoffnungshütte family concern . There he became the mining director of the coal mines Rheinpreußen and Neumühl and a member of the supervisory board of the companies belonging to the group of companies. These included Gutehoffnungshütte, a joint stock association for mining and smelting operations in Nuremberg, Gutehoffnungshütte Oberhausen AG in Oberhausen, Schwäbische Hüttenwerke GmbH in Stuttgart, Eisenwerk Nürnberg AG, formerly J. Tafel & Co. in Nuremberg, and Osnabrücker Kupfer- und Drahtwerke AG in Osnabrück, the Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG in Augsburg, the Fritz Neumeyer AG in Munich, the Zahnradfabrik Augsburg, formerly J. Renk AG in Augsburg, the Maschinenfabrik Eßlingen AG , the Deggendorfer Werft und Eisenbaugesellschaft mbH , the Deutsche Werft AG in Hamburg, the Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH in Duisburg-Ruhrort, Eisenhandel Gutehoffnungshütte GmbH in Essen, Fränkische Eisenhandelsgesellschaft in Nuremberg, Allgemeine Oelhandelsgesellschaft mbH in Hamburg and the Steinberg Minette near Rümelingen in Luxembourg.
