Vezio is part of the Ticino Alto Malcantone municipality in the Breno district in the Lugano district in upper Malcantone .

geography

The village lies at 768 m above sea level. M. 13 kilometers northwest of Lugano . It is a picturesque village framed by chestnut groves, which is the starting point for the ascent of Monte Lema , Gradicioli and Monte Tamaro .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1355 under the then name Vecio . The Roman road from Ponte Tresa to Monte Ceneri through the municipality has been handed down.

Community merger

Vezio merged on March 13, 2005 with the former municipalities of Breno , Fescoggia , Mugena and Arosio to form the new municipality of Alto Malcantone .
